Creating and Editing Components

Using the Component Manager, you can divide the areas of your Famster site between Public and Member access.

Each section of your Famster site will be listed in either the Public or Member section.  You can move a section between the two areas by simply clicking and dragging.  The grayed-out sections cannot be moved; the access level is determined in the admin area of that component.

You can also use the Component Manager to add new areas to your Famster site.

Adding a New Area to your Famster
  1. Click Create Component.
  2. Type in the name you would like to use for the component.
  3. Choose the type of component you would like to create.
  4. If you would like the component to be viewable to non-Members, check Public Access.
  5. When finished, click Save.

If you want an extra level of access protection for some areas in your site, you can password protect them using the Component Manager.  Click the tool icon in the upper right of the section's button, and you will be given the option to set up passwords for Read (View) and/or Write (Edit).

Setting a Section-Specific Password
  1. Click Edit on the desired button.
  2. Click the Lock icon next to the desired password type.
  3. Type your desired password in the new field.
  4. When finished, click Save.

Once you are finished making adjustments, click Save.  For more detailed information, see
How Passwords Work in Famster.
